Plug Valves

Plug valves use a cylindrical or tapered plug with a through-hole (port) that rotates within the valve body to control flow. Navjivan Valves supplies sleeved, lubricated and pressure-balanced lubricated plug valves for tight, reliable shut-off in demanding process applications.

Product Overview

Plug valves provide a straight-through flow path when open, giving low pressure drop similar to a ball valve, with a simple quarter-turn action. Because the plug makes broad surface contact with the body or sleeve, plug valves offer very reliable, bubble-tight shut-off and are widely specified in slurry, chemical and hydrocarbon services where dependable isolation is critical.

Types

Types of Plug Valves

Sleeved Plug Valves — Navjivan Valves

Sleeved Plug Valves

A flexible sleeve or liner (rubber, PTFE or elastomer) surrounds the plug, providing a tight seal between the plug and body without the need for lubrication — well suited to chemical and corrosive services.

Lubricated Plug Valves — Navjivan Valves

Lubricated Plug Valves

A sealant is injected between the plug and body to lubricate the seating surfaces and renew the seal, commonly used in oil & gas and hydrocarbon pipeline applications.

Pressure-Balanced Lubricated Plug Valves — Navjivan Valves

Pressure-Balanced Lubricated Plug Valves

A refined lubricated design that balances pressure across the plug to reduce operating torque, making the valve easier to operate even in high-pressure service.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the difference between sleeved and lubricated plug valves?
Sleeved plug valves use a flexible liner to seal against the plug without lubrication, making them well suited to chemical service. Lubricated plug valves use an injected sealant between the plug and body, commonly specified in oil & gas pipeline applications.
Why choose a plug valve over a ball valve?
Plug valves offer broad sealing contact and proven reliability in slurry and hydrocarbon services, and are often preferred where periodic re-lubrication or sleeve renewal provides simple, cost-effective maintenance over the valve's life.
What sizes are available?
Plug valves are available from 2" to 16" (DN50–DN400), pressure classes 150 to 2500.
