Globe Valves

Globe valves are linear-motion valves used for both flow regulation and tight shut-off. Navjivan Valves supplies forged steel, bellow-sealed and pressure-sealed globe valves for throttling and isolation duty in steam, water, oil and process piping systems.

Product Overview

Unlike gate valves, globe valves are well suited to throttling because flow passes through a seat in a plane roughly perpendicular to the pipe axis, giving predictable control across the disc's travel. The S-shaped flow path introduces a higher pressure drop than a gate valve, but it makes globe valves the preferred choice wherever flow needs to be regulated, not just switched on or off.

Types

Types of Globe Valves

Forged Steel Globe Valves — Navjivan Valves

Forged Steel Globe Valves

Constructed from forged steel such as ASTM A105, A182 F11/F22, or stainless A182 F316, offering excellent strength and corrosion resistance for high-pressure, high-temperature applications.

Bellow-Sealed Globe Valves — Navjivan Valves

Bellow-Sealed Globe Valves

Use a welded metallic bellows to seal the stem, preventing fugitive emissions in hazardous or toxic service — common in refinery and chemical plant applications.

Pressure-Sealed Globe Valves — Navjivan Valves

Pressure-Sealed Globe Valves

The bonnet is sealed by internal pressure rather than bolted joints alone, becoming tighter as pressure increases — used in high-pressure steam and power plant service.

Bolted Bonnet Globe Valves — Navjivan Valves

Bolted Bonnet Globe Valves

A conventional bolted-bonnet design offering easy maintenance access for general industrial throttling and isolation duty.

FAQs

Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between a globe valve and a gate valve?
A globe valve is designed for throttling and regulating flow, thanks to its S-shaped internal flow path. A gate valve is designed purely for full open/full close isolation and offers a straighter, lower-restriction bore when open.
When is a pressure-sealed globe valve used?
Pressure-sealed bonnets are used in high-pressure steam and power plant applications, where internal pressure helps tighten the bonnet seal rather than relying solely on bolt load.
What sizes are available?
Globe valves are supplied from 2" to 16" (DN50–DN400) in pressure classes 150 to 2500.
Are bellow-sealed globe valves available for toxic service?
Yes — bellow-sealed globe valves are supplied for applications where fugitive emissions through the stem packing cannot be tolerated.
